The Nest...

This is a group shows the love for birds and shares your avian original characters.

Here's a few rules to go by:

:bulletblue: Only birds please, no gryphons, winged wolves, or other animals whether real or fantasy, that are not birds. Fantasy species are allowed, so long as they are pure birds and not hybrids. If a bird is appearing with another kind of animal, then it’s perfectly acceptable.

:bulletblue: Only OCs, they can be yours or those of someone else on DA (for fan art, commissions, etc). Please, no fan art for movies, books, games, and other things outside DA, including fan made characters. The purpose of this group is to collect actual characters, so pictures of generic, unnamed birds are not allowed. The only exception to this will be in the ‘Tutorials’ section, where any bird-related tutorials are allowed.

:bulletblue: No photos, photomanipulations, colored linearts or bases, and absolutely NO stolen artwork. Anyone caught stealing or heavily referencing someone else’s work will be immediately banned from the group.

:bulletblue: Be respectful and polite to your fellow members. We do not allow work that is aimed at making other people feel bad in any way, this a group for everyone to enjoy.

:bulletblue: Maximum submissions per week: 5 deviations

Inspiring Avian Art, from traditional to digital...
Sadly, I've been outdated on the blogging here, due to some...real life issues.

Looking at the gloriously growing gallery I see a lot of inspiring deviations to choose from for a future feature!

I'm also setting up another interview/questionnaire with a lovely artist.

It's been months since my last perch,

Since the comments were disabled on your Respect for Birds stamp, I'll just post it here:

At one time, I didn't like birds too much. I didn't know too much about them. Plus the bird we used to have, Sunny, was nasty. She apparently killed another bird we had. Plus I found them to be very hard to draw.

Over the years, my tune changed, though. I think it started in middle school when a guy who rescues birds of prey came over and talked about different birds, such as falcons and eagles. And then there was the dinosaur-bird connection that's been discussed for many years now, which got me more interested in bird behavior.

I think I can say that, nowadays, birds are likely my favorite modern animal, topping wolves and bears who had been my favorite modern animals for many years.

Cool :la: I only disabled comments on my stamp because I had this group of bird-hating trolls that wouldn't leave me alone, but it's nice to know people still like it.

Have you ever seen Valiant? Granted, it wasn't too great a movie, but it wasn't that bad. It had birds as main characters. There were the pigeons, the good guys, and the antagonists were peregrine falcons. At the end of the movie, they mention that most of the animal heroes of..I think it was World War II, were pigeons, outnumbering dogs. Not sure if it's true or not, but I wouldn't be surprised.

I linked your stamp and this club to a friend of mine from Florida. She loooooves birds. Absolutely adores them. Even her username reflects birds. She's been obsessed with birds for as long I've known her.

If you live close enough, Hawk Mountain is a great place to go for bird watching. It's in Pennsylvania. I've been there once years ago. I had an environmental science class, and the teacher was a bird watcher (even his name reflected birds. Mr. Hawk). The majority of the class actually focused on birds. He took us to Hawk Mountain near the end of the year. It's the point where so many migration paths cross. I highly recommend going there sometime.

Sounds like a cool place. Yeah, I've seen Valiant (in fact, I own that movie) but Legend of the Guardians is by far my favorite bird-related movie, and Rio is another good one.
